Salvation - Calvary Baptist Church

If you knew that you were about to die, are you certain that you would spend eternity in heaven?

Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior? Keep reading to find out how you can get to know Jesus as your personal savior and to know for certain that you would spend eternity in heaven and not hell.

Do you understand that sin is when we do wrong? Do you realize that you are a sinner? The Bible says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

Do you know that there is a penalty for sin? The Bible says, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).The Bible teaches that there will be a second death. There is an eternal lake of fire where sinners (whose names have not been written in the Lamb's book of life) will spend eternity. The Bible says, "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:14-15).

God loves us and has a plan for our lives. The Bible says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3: 16).

Around 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ willingly died on the cross for our sins, your sin and my sin. He was buried for three days and rose from the grave. The Bible says, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). He is a friend who will never betray you. He cares about your needs, desires, problems and heartaches. You can become His friend by accepting Him as your personal Savior. Jesus offers eternal life and a way to escape the judgment that is to come.

Has there ever been a time in your life that you asked the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins and be your personal savior? The gift of eternal life is free to all who believe Jesus Christ died, was buried and arose from the grave. The Bible says, "For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Only Christ can save you. If you have been trusting in other things (church membership, your good works or baptism), please understand that NOTHING can save you from your sin except Christ. As sinners, there is nothing we can do to earn our way into heaven. No matter how 'Good' we may be, we are still a sinner and fall short of God's perfection.

You must trust Jesus as the way to God. Jesus Christ shed his blood on the cross so that you and I would not have to pay the penalty for our sins "For the wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23).

The Bible says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10: 9-10). We must open our hearts to Jesus and ask for forgiveness of our sins. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10: 13).

Would you like to receive Christ as your personal savior? Are you ready for the judgment day? Has the Holy Spirit been speaking to your heart? Are you ready to trust him with all your heart? If so, pray (something similar to this):

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I want to turn from my sin and accept you as my Lord and Savior. I believe you died on the cross, was buried and arose from the grave. I am trusting you alone for my salvation. I know there is nothing I can do to save myself. Will you come into my heart and forgive me of my sins? Please help me Lord to live for you. Thank you for saving me. In 'Jesus' name, Amen-

~If you prayed a similar prayer to this and have been saved, it is important for you to find a Bible-believing church to attend so that you can grow in the Lord and go and share your good news~
